class description

Ashtanga is a system of yoga first transmitted to the West by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois that involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures. The sequences are ordered purposefully in such a way as to move the practitioner organically deeper into the experiences of the body, nervous system, mind and spirit.


In the guided classes students are led through the first of these sequences - the primary series.

Mysore classes, named after the city in India where Ashtanga originates, are in the traditional manner of supervised self practice where each student moves through the practice at his or her own pace and level under the close guidance of a teacher.  Beginners welcome.
